Environment & Sustainability

The UHI Environment and Sustainability Group, which is chaired by HISA’s President, Alan Simpson, are running a campaign during the 2018/19 academic year to reduce paper use across the university partnership.  The group launched the campaign on 19th November 2018 to coincide with the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR).  The first element of the campaign was to run a survey with students and staff to raise awareness of the issues of paper use and paper waste and to get people to think about their habits and what changes they could make to help reduce paper use.

The survey included questions which were designed to evaluate awareness of paper use as an environmental issue before asking for suggestions of how paper use could be reduced.  The results of the survey are available here

Following the publication of the results, work was undertaken to group all the suggestions into relevant themes and departments were approached and asked to consider whether any of the suggestions made were achievable.  You can view the feedback received and the actions being taken here
