Arts and Crafts Orkney is free and open to all members of Orkney College. We aim to provide a space for students to collaborate and share their creative endeavours.

For now, it is a Facebook page where we post weekly creative inspiration for members of the group to respond to if they wish. The group is open to any input, as long as it's a creative piece. This can be a painting, a craft, a photograph, or even a piece of creative writing or music. The main goal of this society is to provide a safe space for students to meet each other, to collaborate and to discuss, so there really are no strict limits on what you can contribute (as long as it's appropriate of course). We look forward to meeting you.

Committee Members:

I am Leah Bliss, the president of this society. I am in my fourth year of a BAH in Literature and Sociology at Orkney College. In my spare time I love arts and crafts but with the hectic university lifestyle (as I'm sure you're all familiar with), I find I just don't do enough. I'm looking forward to getting this group up and running to meet other like-minded students and to have a creative outlet to share my own arts and crafts.

Ewan Mackay is a second year BAH Philosophy and Literature student at Orkney College and is the secretary of this society. Leah and Ewan enjoy painting pottery at the pottery painting business in Orkney.

Our backgrounds just show that anyone can join this group, you don't have to be experienced in the arts, you might be someone that hasn't been creative in a long time. This is a safe place for people to give new creative adventures a go, whether a beginner or a professional.
